According to local reports, a little before tonight’s Iranian ballistic missile attack against Israel, sirens sounded at Al-Asad Airbase in the Anbar Province of Western Iraq. Explosions and air-defense activity was reportedly earlier at the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP) in the Qom Province of Northern Iran, with reports suggesting strikes were carried out against the facility by the Israeli Air Force. So our hot-news-poster bot, which has taken the lead while I’m mostly away from internet on travel for the last couple days — has been interesting
Yuge increases 30%+ number of unique commenters and other major metrics — unlike similar channels without this bot, which have shown no increase over this same time
FYI many of these metrics had been flatlining prior to this, but are now exploding. Great success.
Most urgent changes up next:
- Rate limits: Already the AI has 1 pooling & filtering stage, where 10s of thousands of posts are filtered down to just hundreds. Going to add a second stage that further pools the candidate posts for a short while before deciding which to post — further reducing the posting rate and further eliminating duplicates. Though, FYI the current stage pooling already has some rate limiting controls so maybe just need to experiment with adjusting those a bit more.
- Repost elmination: Will make reposts just be replies to the original posts, instead of new posts, unless there’s substantial new info
- Neutrality rewrites: Having the AI rewrite commentary that is taking values positions outside of the group’s values — to take no values on that news, and just report the facts there
- Community feedback & community submission buttons — Will turn on the buttons that let the community easily guide the bot and adjust its internal rules via a simple bot feedback UI
May end up using this hot-news-finder bot in other ways other than posting to the group, but definitely looking useful, however we choose to use it
