On July 18, 2025, at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA, 26-year-old U.S. citizen Andres Caceres Jaldin (with prior assault charges) picked up a 3-year-old girl from a play area and walked into a store.

Her mother confronted him, rescuing the child unharmed. He fled in a stolen car but was arrested hours later, charged with abduction and grand larceny, and held without bond.
