This attack only affected people ON THE NEWEST VERSION OF IOS
= Only the people who were constantly updating got wrecked by this
None of my devices affected because I refuse to frequently update
MANY cases where updates actually INTRODUCE vulnerabilities, to otherwise quite secure systems
But ofc NO ONE seems to ever want to admit this, that updates very often cause more harm than good

Hard to find solid confirmation
What I do know:
+ Generally — telegram re-encodes all regular photos you see in groups or channels (Which i susually pretty annoying, because it lowers the resolution = NO RISK
+ BUT, “file” attachments — telegram supposedly leaves as-is, so if you view those = HIGH RISK
+ And profile photos? Not sure. — Could be that telegram doesn’t re-encode those, and viewing those could allow you to be exploited = UNKNOWN RISK
