“Welfare state is not sustainable” says Merz
Here’s what’s happening, what Merz is not saying.
1) Germany has a long history of a welfare state
2) German are generally hard working people and most people were always workin
3) The welfare system worked to catch the people that were unlucky and between jobs
4) The abuse of the system and amount of receivers were always minimal
-> Now the amount of welfare receivers outgrew its sustainability.
The root cause is not the welfare system itself, but why Germany now has too many receivers all of a sudden.
Why?

Billions for migrants, work until death for Germans: Germany proposes raising the retirement age to 70
The idea was put forward by Pascal Reddig, chairman of the CDU/CSU youth group in the Bundestag.
"This would be fairer and would save funds," he said.
Currently, the retirement age in Germany is 67. Early retirement is possible at 63 with at least 35 years of work, but benefits are reduced.
This year, the federal government allocated €121 billion to cover the pension system deficit.
In Germany, incentive measures are focused on social assistance rather than employment. Migration costs keep rising endlessly. While migrants continue to live on state welfare, Germans are expected to work until death.
