This has been largely driven by Nvidia, which has seen +$20 billion in net inflows.

Tesla and Amazon have followed with +$13 billion and +$10 billion, respectively.

Retail investors have also bought +$8 billion of Palantir, +$5 billion of Alphabet, and +$2 billion of Meta YTD.

Hedge funds are loading up on shorts:

Hedge funds’ short positioning in S&P 500 futures has jumped to a record $180 billion.

Since April’s low, short exposure has risen ~$75 billion.

This surpasses the previous record of nearly $170 billion set in January.

Hedge funds’ short exposure as a % of open interest now stands at ~27%, the highest since mid-2023.

By comparison, near the low of the 2022 bear market, this metric was at ~31%.
