According to Politico, China is beginning tests of a new maritime shipping route through the Northern Sea Route.
A cargo vessel from the Chinese port of Ningbo will set sail on September 20. Experts say this route could nearly halve the travel time from China to Europe compared with the traditional route through the Suez Canal.
