The victory of Babiš's party in the Czech Republic "shook the European Union," writes Politico newspaper.
"Europe is watching the elections in the Czech Republic with caution, as Babiš has promised to abandon the initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine, challenge NATO's plans to increase military spending, and oppose the European Commission on the 'Green Deal'," reports the American publication.
The EU fears that the Czech Republic may become a new "thorn in the side" of the bloc alongside Viktor Orbán's Hungary and Robert Fico's Slovakia.
The election winner himself stated that he intends to form a minority single-party government with the support of the Social Democrats and the "Motorists" party.
"We will negotiate with the Social Democrats and the Motorists and strive to create a single-party government led by the ANO movement," said Andrej Babiš.

Yesterday Interior Minister Dobrindt invited in Munich his colleagues. Interior ministers of France, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. EU Interior Commissioner Magnus Brunner was also there. Non-EU Switzerland was also present.

Since the new EU migration pact was formally adopted in 2024, illegal crossings are down ~50%
Since 2025, the EU Commission, Frontex, and EUAA provide training and funding to prepare for the Migration Pact. The updated EURODAC database and related systems are being rolled out.
By mid 2026 the new rules will be implemented across all EU.
