Good Idea: Give Nature a seat at the table
Several nations already have ecosystems that are their own legal entities (A river in NZ and a river in Peru, as well as some trees in UK)
There are several projects to use technology to make this even easier. The term for these new contructs where technology becomes the (?un-corruptable?) voice and legal body in human society is a symbient.
Some of these solutions simply rely on legal technology and loopholes, use associations that own the land or alike.
Others like terra0.org created a framework using smart contracts so that the ecosystem is completely independent.
This allows for a forest to hire workers, lawyers etc depending on its situation. It could be managed by a rotating shift of humans, by an algorithm or anything in between.
Why should we not give nature a boost against human greed as well?

In 2017, New Zealand became one of the first countries in the world to grant rights to a river: the Whanganui River. Here, we presents five ways in which the recognition of the River as a legal person could help to shape law and policy.
