Doubling down on his public support for fascism, Elon Musk has announced that he will make an appearance at the festival of the fascist youth organization that serves Italy's ruling Brothers of Italy party, which traces its political lineage directly to Benito Mussolini.
The "Atreju" festival is named for a character in The Neverending Story, a book by German anti-fascist Michael Ende. Ende joined an underground resistance group to fight the Nazis when he was a teenager in 1940s Germany. Not being known for their own creativity, fascists shamelessly steal imagery and ideas from those who rightly oppose them.
The fights against billionaire control of social media, against fascist street violence and state power, and against fascist appropriation of fiction and fantasy are all one and the same fight.
