Abstaining from nicotine, especially in the form of nicotine salts found in certain e-cigarettes, may be advisable due to its potential to cause irregular heartbeats or arrhythmias. The research indicates that contrary to the popular claim of nicotine being relatively harmless in e-cigarettes, the type and concentration of nicotine could have adverse cardiovascular effects, increasing the risk of heart-related issues. Abstaining from nicotine, or choosing e-cigarettes with freebase nicotine and lower nicotine content, is proposed as a way to reduce potential harm to cardiovascular health.
