Since the outbreak of war in Sudan in April 2023, millions of people have been forcibly displaced inside and outside the country. Instead of providing safe passage and refuge, neighboring Egypt, supported by Europe, has engaged in the arrest and deportation of Sudanese refugees. This is how Europe continues to stain itself with blood by financing human rights violations.

Media is too big
VIEW IN TELEGRAM
German media continues to whitewash Israel’s genocide in Gaza, this time on live national television. On Tagesschau, the most-watched news program on German television, a reporter in Tel Aviv downplayed Israel’s massacring of displaced Palestinians by saying that Israel is trying its best to provide safe corridors and so-called “protective bunkers” for the displaced. Are they even following what’s going on in Gaza right now, or do they choose to be this ignorant?

Yesterday, a Trump-appointed judge threw out the entire classified documents case against Donald Trump, defying over half a century of legal precedents. This should give those who marched with signs reading "no one is above the law" cause to reflect.
What is law, anyway? And who does it serve?
Law is not an impartial institution that inherently serves to keep tyranny at bay. It is a weapon in the hands of the ruling class. It is chiefly used against poor people and activists; when it plays a role in internal conflicts within the ruling class, the outcome generally shows the balance of power between the factions.
In this context, promoting obedience to the law as a good in itself means accepting that might makes right. All the legitimacy that Biden and his supporters have invested in the legal system have only made it a more dangerous weapon for Donald Trump to employ, should he return to power.
As we move into an era in which the court system will serve the most authoritarian elements in our society, the argument that it is necessary to obey the law will be used to excuse complicity in more and more egregious crimes against humanity.
Instead of saying "no one is above the law," we should say, with Hannah Arendt, “No one has the right to obey.” 🏴

Cheerleading for "the rule of law" hamstrings movements for change, giving Trump and others like him precisely the tools they need to suppress dissent.

On this day, 17 July 1936 a Spanish military uprising began in Morocco as right wing generals declared war on the new Republican government. The rising had been due to begin at 5 AM on July 18, but the plot in Melilla, Spanish Morocco, had been uncovered, and so a local military officer decided to initiate the coup attempt a day early. The rebel officers arrested loyal officers, seized all the public buildings in the city, as well as the aerodrome, and made lists of union members, left-wing activists, Republicans and Freemasons, and arrested them all..Some residents in working class districts attempted to resist, but they had no arms, and so were quickly overcome. Anyone who resisted was summarily shot, including the mayor and the loyal local general. Rebels in Melilla then telephoned plotters in Ceuta and Tetuán, who then initiated their rising as well, resting or executing anyone who resisted. The following day, workers across Spain began to go on strike and requisition weapons to defend themselves and the Republic, even though the Republican government would refuse to give them arms. These events marked the beginning of the Spanish civil war. In the coming days, full-scale social revolution would break out which would set the Spanish working class, and volunteers from across the world, against the combined might of the bulk of the Spanish military backed up by Nazi Germany and fascist Italy.
