Als ich klein war, besass meine Mutter vielleicht ein Dutzend Platten. Etwas Beatles, Joan Baez, Deep Purple, Grease. Tracy Chapman, Simon & Garfunkel. Etwas Klassik. Und dann war da eine Platte von Lionel Richie. Titel: Can't Slow Down. Im Gegensatz zu den anderen habe ich sie kaum je gehört. Letzten Montag durfte ich meine Mutter ans Montreux Jazz Festival begleiten. Auditorium Stravinsky. Lionel Richie stand auf dem Programm. Ihr Geburtstagsgeschenk an mich. Etwas Musikgeschichte atmen für mich. Wobei man hauptsächlich 80er-Jahre-Groove atmen konnte. Trotzdem war ich positiv überrascht. Vom Lionel. Vom Publikum. Vom Opening Act, der souligen Nnavy. Der Lionel selbst liess beim Betreten der Bühne meine etwa gleichaltrige Publikumsnachbarin in Ekstase ausbrechen. Und ich war überrascht wie ein Publikum Durchschnittsalter Ü60 noch abgehen kann. Meine Mutter lachte - und das ist am Ende alles was zählt.
