On January 7, 2025, the 20th anniversary of Oury Jalloh's death, around 800 people gathered in front of Dessau Central Station in the early afternoon to commemorate the deceased and protest against the failure of the justice system to clear up the case.

The demonstration set off at around 3 p.m. and the demonstrators marched in front of the public prosecutor's office building, chanting “Blood, blood, blood on your hands”. Dozens had brought lighters, which they threw at the entrance to the court building. To this day, the same public prosecutor's office claims that Jalloh set fire to his mattress himself with a lighter that was overlooked during the search, although a large amount of evidence, proof, investigations and evidence refutes this assumption.
