Again in 1983 there were many releases that are defining in the evolution of Rap music. From the songs I picked to represent this year, we start with a release from the musicians who had the deepest impact on Hip Hop/Pop culture. The remix was a Nr.1-Hit in 1997. We're talking about Run-D.M.C and the song is called:
As you might know, Hip Hop consists of several elements. And Rap music is only one of them. Wether this is really true or just a PR stunt to market the culture with books and movies (Wild Style, see below) and how many elements there really are, is a matter of opinion. One definition is MCing ("Rap"), DJing, B-Boying (Breakdance) and Writing (Graffiti).
Others add Beatboxing...
And then there's director Spike Lee, who mentions 7 elements adding beatmaking and even language.
Be it as it may, the 2. track I wanna higlight for 1983 is Clear by Cybotron. It's the perfect b-boy- anthem. Even though the name probably doesn't ring a bell you might have heard the song before.

When Juan Atkins, member of Cybotron and one of the fathers of (Detroit) Techno, heard Planet Rock, he felt bad about his own music. But it also inspired him and made him create Clear, one of the best songs of the Electro genre that always had close ties to Hip Hop.
Honorable mentions: Herbie Hancock - Rockit. This was the first time a large audience worldwide heard Scratching and introduced a new crowd to Hip Hop https://youtu.be/GHhD4PD75zY

Not so much the song by graffiti-artist, enfant terrible and pioneer Rammellzee but the cover designed by Basquiat himself made me pick the song Beat Pop https://youtu.be/9I56Kkxh_os

Another milestone of Hip Hop's world domination was a different media than music, though: movies. Namely Wild Style, released in 1983. Here's the original soundtrack. Listen especially to Grandmaster Caz's song. Crossover before Crossover as a genre even existed: https://youtu.be/xny1oQwZNlM
