🔬US Scientists Achieve Fusion Power Breakthrough Again

Scientists at the California-based Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have replicated their fusion → power breakthrough, achieving a higher energy yield in their latest experiment at the National Ignition Facility (NIF) compared to the previous one in December.

In that experiment, fusion ignition was briefly achieved, generating 3.15 megajoules of energy output from the laser-delivered 2.05 megajoules.

Fusion energy offers the potential for abundant clean power, with no greenhouse gases or radioactive waste byproducts. One kilogram of fusion fuel can provide as much energy as 10 million kilograms of fossil fuel.
