🚢 Are we ready for remote-controlled ships?
As maritime autonomy evolves, the role of the seafarer is being redefined — from hands-on operations to high-tech remote supervision.

📡 In our June session Dr Capt. Arife Tuğsan İşiaçık Çolak, AFNI from International Maritime College Oman (IMCO) presented “Identifying the Skills of Future Seafarers for Remotely Controlled Ships”, where the urgent need for new competencies were explored in areas such as:
- Sensor fusion & data integration
- AI-based navigation systems
- Cybersecurity & remote emergency response
- Human-machine interaction
- Soft skills in Remote Control Centre (RCC) environments

🎓 Maritime education must evolve now to equip professionals for the challenges of MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships). It's not just about technology — it's about people, mindset, and readiness.

Let’s bridge the gap between traditional seafaring and the future of shipping. 🌍⚓️
