The observatory in Delhi, known as Jantar Mantar, was commissioned by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the 1720s to take accurate astronomical calculations. This engraving was produced after an original drawing by Thomas and William Daniell for their series Oriental Scenery. The engraving dates back to 1816. #VisualArtTuesdays
