How zkSharding make blockchain more efficient? 4 examples from =nil; Foundation

Sharding divides a blockchain into smaller, independent subchains—called shards—each with its own state, validators, and local consensus.

This approach allows blockchains to process tasks in parallel, making them more efficient and scalable.

It allows for better:

⚖️ Scaling: dynamic scalability by adding resources as needed. Each shard operates independently, contributing to the system's overall capacity without causing bottlenecks.

🛜 Decentralization: resources are distributed globally, reducing the risk of centralization and ensuring equitable participation.

🏎 Application performance: applications are no longer limited by the constraints of their host blockchain, as sharding enables them to operate across multiple shards.

🎯 Validator efficiency: sharding optimizes validator utilization by distributing workloads, reducing idle time, and maximizing computational output.

This is the first working week of the year and to get you in the mood we will post predictions for 2025 from top players in the industry for the whole week!

And we are starting with Declan Fox, Product Director @ Linea:

📊 The top 5 leading L2s by TVL will be Stage 2 in L2Beat framework.

🌪 Linea’s Vortex prover will be 10x more performant than plonky3.

🪙 More than 1M MAUs for card payments settled on Layer 2.

🍣 All rollups will be ZK rollups.

💰 Many L2s and RaaS providers cease operating due to unsustainable economics, consolidating activity around chains with proven network effect

AI in Web3 was one of the leading narratives in 2024. What will happen this year?

Opinion from Neil Han, Founder & CEO @ Reddio

"The biggest change from 2024 will be the shift from theoretical advancements to practical, scalable solutions in blockchain and AI. High-performance blockchains, which have been under development for years, will finally become production-ready, enabling unprecedented scalability and low-latency applications. This will transform Web3 from a niche ecosystem into a foundation for mainstream use cases.

Simultaneously, AI in Web3 will evolve from hype-driven experiments to real-world applications like autonomous AI agents for trading, governance, and beyond. This transition will mark a turning point where infrastructure and use cases catch up with the immense potential of both technologies, reshaping how decentralized systems interact with intelligent agents."

Now for TON - what is in store for the ecosystem this year?

From Arty Shatilov, Co-Founder @nomis_protocol

📊 Perhaps the key trends [in 2025] will be Hyperliquid-based products and a new wave of memefication: meme-ETFs, perp trading and other forms of speculation.

🌐 Telegram social graph solutions are also expected to grow, from casual gaming to social trading.

🎮 Onchain games combining gamification and financial incentives (e.g. Farmville + perp trading) may become an important driver of user activity.

Will we finally see deployed restaking projects this year?

Insight from Misha, Co-founder @ Symbiotic

"The lagging protocols had this time to figure out the last elements of their design and start implementing them as well. 2025 will be production [year].

Protocols that are trading promises are not going to be as successful as they were before. So 2025 is the year to get it.

Our industry is built by dreamers, but for some reason, they don't have imagination. You have to show them, like, look, this is the Oracle network. This is how it works. You have a registry, you have network middleware and you have off-chain parts. You need this, this and this to get you started."

Last prediction of the week - the future of AI agents.

Opinion from Daniil Shcherbakov, Co-Founder @ton_tongames

🎇 The biggest trend of 2025, which is clearly carrying over from 2024, will be the deep integration of artificial intelligence into Web3.

🤖 AI is no longer trusted solely with technical routines but is also, in a way, tasked with managing communities. AI agents are becoming the main characters in communities: they engage with members and can maintain “live” conversations.

👾 There is already evidence that this works: crypto enthusiasts are increasingly motivated to hold tokens longer in order to remain part of exclusive communities

Making successful Web3 game: 3 tips from @ton_tongames and their founder Daniil Shcherbakov

📈 Focus on quality over trends
Many developers in the Telegram gaming space rely on trends like "click-to-earn" mechanics, where players perform basic actions to earn tokens or rewards.

Instead, emphasize creating polished, meaningful gaming experiences that provide lasting value. This approach ensures their games appeal to broader audiences and maintain retention beyond initial hype cycles.

🧠 Create a careful token strategy
Don’t launch a token prematurely to generate short-term interest. Better focus on building games with robust monetization, loyal audiences, and sustainable economics.

Token launches should be considered only when they add meaningful utility to the game and its ecosystem. By delaying token generation events, you can avoid the pitfalls of hype and create more stable, engaging products.

🪙 Make monetization user-centric
A key component of the strategy should be respecting users.

Rather than bombarding them with intrusive ads or exploitative monetization tactics, they focus on creating experiences where users feel encouraged, not pressured, to spend money.

This transparent and respectful approach earns trust and engagement from the player base.

The 4 most important challenges in restaking

From the talk with Nader Dabit, Misha, Adam Efrima, Tigran Bolshoi & Warren Paul Anderson

⚖️ Imbalanced expectations - the rapid growth of restaking protocols like EigenLayer has generated significant hype. However, the ecosystem is still in its infancy, leading to a mismatch between expectations and deliverables.

⚠️ Slashing risks - slashing, a critical component of restaking security, has not been fully implemented in most protocols.

Its absence means current risk-taking remains limited to smart contract vulnerabilities and governance risks.

🤖 Technical complexity - advanced cryptographic solutions like ZK proofs and FHE are essential for scaling privacy and security in restaking.

However, these technologies remain resource-intensive and are not yet ready for widespread use in generalized applications.

🛍 UX - establishing a universally understood framework for evaluating AVS risks is a critical UX gap. Without this, both developers and users face uncertainty when assessing potential risks and rewards.

DeFAI: be bullish or be bearish?

4 different opinions

🎶Most DeFAI teams are going about it the wrong way. Implicit development requires a completely different approach from the start—teams will need to redo 95% of their architecture to build B, and then spend a year building the base infra” - Vivaldi, Founder journal & research on biohacking, defi, ai

💻 “The future of finance is permissionless and open. Autonomous AI agents will handle everything seamlessly in the background. DefAI is the next big wave—stay bullish“ - Pushpendra Singh, Co-founder of PushpendraTech & SmartViewAI

📈 “DeFAI's market cap is under $1 billion, but I anticipate it could reach $25–$50 billion by the end of 2025“ - Sam Ruskin, Research analyst @messaricrypto

🐵 “What scares me is that 99% of the DeFAI projects we see now won’t survive the next cycle. Most are just memes with a GPT wrapper slapped on top” - The Smart Ape, building BasePumpFUN
