We’re throwing it back to the inaugural GITEX Africa 2023, where our president took the stage to represent our association and the growing Ethiopian startup ecosystem.
As you can see from the pictures, we've been witnesses and participants from the very beginning, but today, that journey hits a whole new gear by being an official Community Partners.
This year’s event is again taking place in Marrakech by bringing you the full spectrum of the global tech ecosystem by uniting leaders from 130+ countries to show that African tech is now operating at a massive scale. From new zones like Smart Data Centres, FLEX (workforce readiness), and SportsTech to live demos of Generative AI and Fintech, the show floor is packed with solutions ready for deployment.

Last Friday, our staff and members had the chance to visit the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.
The journey through the place was nothing short of inspiring. They toured the Startup Center, Robotics Workshop, Data Center, and the Showroom, witnessing a sophisticated ecosystem that reflects Ethiopia's determination to move from mere technology consumption to bold innovation leadership.
Beyond the tour, they also engaged in deep-dive sessions focused on Natural Language Processing and the critical infrastructure within the Data Center, alongside various other high-touch technologies. These sessions were presented with clarity and vision, reinforcing that AI is a current reality being built by Ethiopian talent to drive economic growth and efficiency across the continent.
In our ongoing effort to connect local talent with global prospects, collaborative visits like this remain vital for future innovations. A huge thanks to the Institute for the warm welcome and for showing us that when it comes to technology, Ethiopia is ready to lead the way.

Our Membership Engagement Manager, Fozia Mohammed, took the stage as a panelist for the opening day of the H.E.R. Hackathon yesterday!
The discussion dove deep into the intersection of Women in Innovation, Leadership, and Technology. While women are making incredible strides in entrepreneurship across the continent, the tech sector still sees a significant gap, with women representing only 2% of the industry. She highlighted that our association is committed to changing this narrative by exploring how women can navigate and overcome the challenges of a male-dominated startup ecosystem while leveraging the unique perspectives and innovative spirit they bring to the table.
In addition to that, she also emphasised our focus on shifting the perspective so that women aren't just participants, but leaders driving the future of tech at the forefront of the digital economy. We're proud to support initiatives that empower our members to build successful, impactful ventures.
