DISCLAIMER: pls read all of this before saying i want to set the world on fire or anything like that, i DO talk about this in this thread so please just please read it before just jumping on me

i might have seemed super hard on ai stuff lately so let me say something positive about it: llms have sparked back my curiosity when it comes to coding, i am no pro or anything (remember that my academic background is technically professional art/political hoe, that's my area of expertise, everything i do with tech is just vibes and passion based and stuff i learned over the years by chance)

i am just someone who got into python years ago as a simple way to fix issues she was running into (stuff like automating the login process of my college dorm internet, which used to reset every 24h) right now i am learning so much stuff way faster than before

i am not talking about using llms to code for me, that's usually super broken and boring, but using them as a learning tool when i get stuck instead of having to scroll for 5 minutes on google to find an old stackoverflow thread or whatever i can get a good enough solution in a few seconds, and when it's wrong and i get to correct it (because even the most advanced llms just crap out shit answers constantly) i actually learn something new that i remember in the future when i write without any assists

i was very worried about the environmental impacts of this initially, but after doing some napkin maths on how much energy it takes for me to browse google for x amount of minutes i think this is actually a net positive (ESPECIALLY running models locally on my computer that is powered by clean energy, shoutout to deepseek because usually it works well enough for what i need on my 3090)

so yeah, i think that as a tool to help you learn and build stuff faster, this is great

i would NOT recommend replacing your brain with this tech though: your brain is a muscle, you gotta use it and keep it healthy

use this shit to become a better human, not to become a mindless slave on a hedonistic treadmill

i was planning to make a video on this for a few months now and was about to do it but due to personal reasons i physically can't work on it right now, so please please please check out the stop killing games initiative and sign if you are from the EU or UK, it's one of the MOST IMPORTANT initiatives to protect consumer rights ever conceived and could set a very very important standard going forward

i am going to be back with a new video relatively soon, the video i am working on is ~50% there and i will resume working on stuff in a few days so yeah thank you for your patience and i hope you will enjoy it (and enjoy the other videos that will come next too 🙏)

one more thing: during the past few months i have been working to collab with what i think is one of the few companies in the tech industry who is directly and transparently working to make tech both cool, fun, interesting and fair again (you know how much i hate boring corporate slop so me even considering this is pretty unique)

NO THIS IS NOT AN AI COMPANY not in the slightest: it’s a consumer hardware company, and it’s one of the few ones i genuinely think put the consumer first and foremost

i don’t usually go past single sponsorships or anything like that with companies but in this one case this one company is truly, in my opinion, working to really make a difference in an industry where everyone tries to rip consumers off

won’t say more about this for now, but i am sure that (if everything goes according to plan) a lot of you are going to like this (and it also means more content, written by me, shot by me, edited by me but made for them, so if you like my stuff then you will like this i think considering they are going to pretty much let me run free)

again i would have never considered this normally but this one company is genuinely, in my opinion, a force for good

so yeah hopefully this works out too🙏 stay tuned

oh yeah of course for ppl worried about this diluting my content or anything: it’s gonna be a separate thing on their channel, my personal projects are going to stay my projects like they are now, i truly care about that lol

and also also since some people are also asking about this and worried about what this would be on their channel: no i am not looking to make boring sterile generic company social media content for them because that would kill my soul, the current understanding with them (and they literally reached out because of this) is that they like what i do specifically because i don’t care about what the algo says or making “clean professional safe” corporate crap

they like what i do and they like it how i do it, raw, weird, and based on what seems fun to me and they are going to let me run wild

we are living in an era of identical boring slop and yeah fuck that shit lol

ok that was a HUGE wall of text for no reason but the tldr is that:

- my small break is almost over, new videos are coming, next video is halfway done, will be out relatively soon

- i am ALSO (probably, been working behind the scenes on this for a while) going to start collaborating with one of the 2 or 3 consumer first / right to repair first tech companies (not ai related, not slop related) that i trust to create content for them on their channels, this is a separate thing, not on my channel, it's not going to be affecting what i do on my own at all AND they are giving me pretty much total creative freedom so if you like the weird shit i do on my own you are also probably going to like what i do there too because that's literally why they reached out to me (i can't stand generic boring big corpo advertising crap)

so yeah, if you like my stuff you are going to get it as usual on my personal channel (i also REALLY want to take some time to work on some longer projects like the GTA IV video that I have been writing for ages now)

AND you'll also see me (if you want, this is a separate thing) do cool weird shit on this company's channel since they are letting me run free and actually giving me a real budget and resources for the first time in my life which as a video artist feels genuinely exciting and cool

there are not many companies i would be willing to work with like this since i genuinely find the current tech landscape to be MOSTLY a wasteland where everyone is trying to scam you so some of you won't struggle to figure out what company this is but i won't confirm or deny anything for now

for some reason my twitter algorithm lately is only showing me silicon valley ai bro content about speed running startups and financing rounds and stuff like that and i don’t even know why

please just give me my old algo and show me old sony brochures and shit like that

every passing day it feels like the world i grew up in is slowly being replaced by a worse, less free version of it and most people seem either completely numb or generally don’t feel like it’s worth fighting for the fear of losing their comfort

this is not referring to anything specific, it just feels like everyone is becoming more apathetic about everything (you can literally apply this to everything, be it consumer rights, politics, i feel like this is kind of a universal issue)

what i am saying is going to mean different things to different people, and that’s ok, that’s actually precisely what i mean: i feel like (on average) people used to truly believe in stuff and fight for it, while now as long as our baseline comforts are met we are on average less willing to do anything to stand up

don’t worry i am not depressed or doomer posting, don’t worry about that lol

what i am saying is like: dude, if you like something, if you believe in something, you should actively be its advocate/defend it, because the second you stop doing that whoever wants that thing gone is still going to be there pushing for that

some ppl in my area in order to flex their money decided to import big pick up trucks from the USA and they are not able to physically fit them through most of my town’s streets and i would be lying if i didn’t say this is fucking hilarious

random rabbit hole deep dive not connected to tech or gaming or anything

i was thinking about when i crashed into a wall on my overclocked electric scooter with bad brakes

even tho i was mostly feeling fine after that i went to the emergency room to get a ct scan for free just in case and i was thinking about how in a lot of places around the world you would have to pay for that SO

i was curious to see how the whole concept of "public healthcare" spread throughout europe and found out GERMANY HAS IT SINCE 1883 HOLY SHIT

the UK and France both got there in the 1940s, with pretty different models (that alongside the old German model kinda became a blueprint for other countries to follow too, with some of them then putting their own unique spin on some smaller details)

while pretty much every country here provides public free coverage for everyone who can't afford paying without asking any questions, some do it by controlling the entire pipeline while others rely more on public - private partnerships (and the funding varies too, some tax everyone while others use payroll deductions)

in some countries (like italy) the big shift pushing that eventually led to it becoming a thing happened WAY LATER, in the case of Italy the SSN (which was pretty much a 1:1 clone of the NHS) was only founded in 1978 (and while this is speculation on my side i can't help but think that the fact they were in the middle of the years of lead AND at the same time both the communist and socialist party were growing more more kinda forced the then ruling christian right party into conceding this one to avoid losing ground to them)

Spain took even longer, they had to wait up until Franco died and then some, their SNS (another NHS copycat) only launched in 1986

the last country to make the jump has actually been Cyprus in 2019, before then apparently the system was kind of a mess where only some specific categories got complete public coverage while others had to settle for limited one + potential out of pocket fees (in this case they were forced to do this to bail out some debts with the IMF and some European entities)

i think that probably the shock post WW2 was also a huge driving force behind this maybe? but yeah it's just interesting to see how this concept spread throughout countries that in general can vary wildly in culture/general political climate

fun fact: thanks to that CT scan i discovered that i don't have any frontal sinuses (which are like, small cavities full of air in the bone of your forehead), just SOLID BONE

apparently around 5% of the population just lacks them

btw since some people are (understandably) unaware of this: the stop killing games petition is not a change dot org or anything useless/boring, it's a formal request that would force the eu commission to give a formal answer about the topic and eventually act on it

and we kinda have a good track record on consumer rights so yeah this could drastically change things for the better

we are pretty good at forcing consumer protection even on huge megacorps (see usb-c on iphones) since we can regulate whether you can get access to 449 million consumers or not lol and usually (like for iphones) the consequences of these laws spread worldwide so if you don't live in the eu and are still helping out by spreading info about this online: thank you!
