but that's just a theory,
what kills me is the text saying APPEARANCE OF HIGH ACCURACY COLOR
you are not actually getting it, you only get the appearance of that

i would say that having to explain to zoomers how game server browsers used to work and how most multiplayer games would let you self host a server pretty easily if you had the resources would make me feel old if the zoomers in question weren't ironically older than me

kinda connected to Stop Killing Games I guess? since some people say it is unrealistic to expect any meaningful legislation coming from it and i totally get the skepticism
in case you didn't know, EU law already asks developers to offer full refunds in case their game's servers shut down permanently within 24 months from a customer purchasing a copy of it (Directive 2019/770 - Art 11 S 2 + 14-16)
we also have already set precedents that would allow you to resale used copies of digital games (UsedSoft (C-128/11, 2012) + BGH 17-7-2013)
same law that allows us to resell our used windows or office keys if we don't need or use them and basically tell microsoft to stick their EULA up their ass btw
Steam managed to be an outlier thanks to a loophole (French courts accepted Valve’s argument that a Steam noscript is an “online service”) BUT that loophole could be shut down by a future CJEU reference or by an amendment to Directive 2019
so yeah i can understand the skepticism but we do have a pretty good track record on all of this

by your mid 20s on average you are going to find out that at least two of your GOATs are washed or somehow even way worse than washed to the point where you challenge why you liked them at all
it's a rite of passage

something that i have noticed lately is that after mamdani's success in NYC some video campaigns from politicians started copying his warm color grading style but some of them overdo it and go full "altman yellow"
in other words i don't care what your politics are but please learn how to color correct your footage first, then grade it properly, I know it’s hard at first but it’s worth it, trust me, you don’t want to export piss shots

some people in my area are getting 5-7yo used teslas from neighbouring euro countries for like 15-20k after people sold them bc of what happened with el0n and honestly
and you know i don't like the guy or his worldview/ideas or particularly personally like teslas
i think that attacking them for buying these used cars (and i have heard some people irl do exactly that) is kinda stupid/counter-productive?
i know nuance is illegal online but the car has been manufactured already and someone gotta drive it before the batteries eventually die
and for that price it's a pretty great deal and it's not like the money is going to him or anything
at the same time i totally get not wanting to "support" the brand but idk like the car has been made already, not using it would effectively turn it into waste
if you have any takes on this lmk though, i am genuinely curious

i have just learned by complete accident that the US does not use IBAN/SEPA at all???
do you guys actually have to pay fees to send money between different banks domestically???? genuine question this is all news to me lol
i know SEPA was originally a european project but since other countries started adopting it too i kinda assumed you guys got it too, but apparently that is not the case

malcolm in the middle has aged incredibly well
the later seasons kinda go a bit too over the top with the plotlines but honestly it's still very very funny (and relatable as someone who grew up broke in a small crowded loud household lmao)

it's that time of the week when i get into a non tech rabbit hole for no fucking reason and i bring you all along with me
a few days ago i was bored and browsing wikipedia late at night and I was curious to find out why Thailand was named like that since i recalled that historically it was called the Kingdom of Siam (i don't know too much about SEA but i remembered this small thing from a joke in an old Simpsons episode lol)
turns out it got renamed in 1939 by a military dictator who took power in a coup and that the guy was straight up a Mussolini larper down to copying both his aesthetic and even the fucking fascist salute lol
he also ended up allying with Japan/the axis but ironically just like italy they switched sides at the last second and ended up with the allies
unfortunately all of this also meant he did stuff like banning traditional clothes (some of them exposed women's breasts and he wanted to stop that in order to be taken more "seriously" by western nations), pushing ethno-nationalism and in general trying to unify the nation under a singular “Thai” identity
when eventually he was ousted from power the King regained power but a lot of the changes he made to the country ended up staying in place (including the new name of the country)
