the 2007 macbook on my hands rn has a 32 bit efi AND a 64 bit OS

this is hell

but i am working on it

i was bored so i installed void linux on that white macbook (and before people bug me about it yes i know you shouldn't just use the computer as root but i was just testing stuff lol) and

being able to do anything modern on a computer this old almost feels almost illegal

i am a mac user first and foremost but linux works great for this kind of stuff

btw i am not familiar with linux/void stuff in general (and i love mac for what i do so i am not gonna get into desktop linux anytime soon) so there is a good chance this could run way better and i just didn't do it right

oh yeah i also upgraded the ram from 1gb to 2gb since i found some ddr2 sticks laying around here

my dad has been using the 2006/2007/mysterious year macbook with void for a day now and he loves it, he had no laptop recently and was stuck with his xiaomi phone so having anything with a keyboard made him super happy

i told him i can get him a faster computer because firefox works good but not great and his answer was “i can wait one fucking second for web pages to load” so i guess he wins in the end
