📑 Biofeedback as Prophylaxis for Pediatric Migraine: A Meta-analysis
American Academy of Pediatrics

🔹 Biofeedback reduced migraine frequency (mean difference, –1.97 [95% confidence interval (CI), –2.72 to –1.21]; P < .00001), attack duration (mean difference, –3.94 [95% CI, –5.57 to –2.31]; P < .00001), and headache intensity (mean difference, –1.77 [95% CI, –2.42 to –1.11]; P < .00001) compared with a waiting-list control.

🔹 CONCLUSIONS: Biofeedback seems to be an effective intervention for pediatric migraine, but in light of the limitations, further investigation is needed to increase our confidence in the estimate.

Neurocinema: The method of using neuroscience to help moviemakers vet and refine film elements such as noscripts, characters, plots, scenes, and effects.

🔹 A sizable number of neuromarketing companies already brain test movie trailers for the major studios through fMRI, EEG, galvanic skin response, eye-tracking and other biometric approaches.

🔹 Based on an fMRI study, in which he concluded that certain types of films (e.g. horror, action, sci-fi) produced high activation scores in the amygdala region of viewer subjects' brains, the part that controls disgust, anger, lust, and fear. Hasson asserted that horror filmmakers can potentially control audiences' brains by precisely editing films to maximize amygdalic excitement and thus "control for" buzz and success at the theater.

🔹 During the making of the epic hit Avatar that "a functional-MRI study of brain activity would show that more neurons are actively engaged in processing a 3-D movie than the same film seen in 2-D."

Looking at Brain Activity May Aid Self Motivation

📑 Cognitive Neurostimulation: Learning to Volitionally Sustain Ventral Tegmental Area Activation

Highlights:
🔹 ventral tegmental area (VTA) self-activation was inconsistent in untrained participants
🔹 After neurofeedback training, participants self-activated VTA without external cues
🔹 Control groups and NAcc feedback group failed to self-activate VTA or NAcc
🔹 After VTA neurofeedback training, connectivity in mesolimbic networks increased
