Last year I made the tough decision to halt development on our first game, Everseed. Though it was an addictingly fun game to play, its growth and monetization metrics weren't strong enough.

At the time, I went "founder mode" as everyone on the team disagreed with our pivot to focus on mini-games. Years of hard work had to be iceboxed, which is always a bitter pill to swallow. We also had to "restructure" our team too, which of course is a euphemism for both firing holdouts misaligned with the new direction and losing regrettable talent due to creative demotivation.

Four months after the pivot, we launched Farm Frens on Telegram and found viral success, becoming a top 20 grossing mini-app. Although Telegram's liquidity did not sustain its hype, our early strategic pivot led to many more attractive opportunities since then...
