hey so in case you didn’t know there’s a law project being voted in Brazil that in practice ends the demarcation of indigenous lands that are a constitutional right. it would have catastrophic consequences for the livelihood of indigenous communities, as it allows even more the exploitation of their lands and accentuates discrimination and violence.
I made a thread about this but the most important thing is to share the tweets that I’ve linked and others from indigenous people, tweet using #PL490Nao (seriously make a lot of noise about the situation) and support the mobilisation that is happening in Brasília atm

Today there will be voted a law project that ends the demarcation of indigenous land in Brazil. Another horrifying step of Bolsonaro’s administration. I’ll be adding super important information in this thread throughout the day #PL490Nao The translation button…

SOUTH KOREA GOVERNMENT FUNDING DESTRUCTION IN INDONESIA
The climate crisis affects us all. We must all work together to combat the climate crisis. However, many countries are funding and supporting efforts to exacerbate the climate crisis.
South Korea is one of them, and it is responsible for funding the damage in Indonesia. South Korea, as one of the world's largest investors in coal project funding after China and Japan, has funded the construction of the Java 9 & 10 coal power plant megaproject in Banten, Indonesia, through its state and private banks.
It was extremely humiliating. There are countries that finance and support the destruction of other countries' territories. Despite promises to leave coal funding abroad, including in Indonesia, the South Korean government is still funding the construction of the Java 9 and 10 coal power plants.

Here's a powerful 25 minute video about greenwashing and fast fashion!
Our favorite part: when she says that we have to move away from away from the polar bear and recognize the reality of the crisis which is a humanitarian crisis 😉
Summary:It’s basically about how the global north keeps on expanding in the global south without regard for the people on the ground irregardless of what industry under the pretext of development but when looking at the people producing the textiles well starting from how they are grown like in the Punjab region to production like in Bangladesh and sales in the EU, there is a huge gab, no equality but more destruction of ecosystems and because people loose their lands they are forced to work for these companies. But we make it look like development when in actual fact it’s really about exploitation going on

Civil Society Campaigns on Social Media to Ask Court to Drop Charges and Release Environmental Activists
On June 16, 2021, four environmental activists were arrested but one was released, while three others, Ly Chandaravuth, Yim Leang Hy and Sun Ratha, were taken to court. All three, along with Mother Nature movement founder Alejandro Gonzalez Davidson, have been charged with "conspiracy" and "insulting the monarch."
Separately, three other young mothers, including Mr. Thon Ratha, Ms. Long Kunthea and Ms. Phoun Keo Raksmey, who have been imprisoned for about 10 months, were sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court to between 18 and 20 months and fined. 4 million riels each under the charge of "inciting serious chaos to social security" on May 5, 2021.
Mr. Khun Tharo, program coordinator for the Center for Alliance of Labor and Human Rights (CENTRAL) said that young people and citizens living in Cambodia have the right and obligation to express dissatisfaction and concern for what the government has done wrong in order to promote governance and ensure efficiency. To protect the natural resources of Cambodia.

The Time Limit Trick is a legal principle defended only by big landowners. Saying that indigenous people should be on their lands on October 5, 1988 is to erase the history of violence against them #MarcoTemporalNão
Hey everyone! With the Global Climate Strikes coming up and the theme of intersectionality, highlighting MAPA and #UprootTheSystem.
We'd love to have calls with national and local groups about the narrative and discussing the points of the narrative so we can figure out the best way to communicate and to connect it with the existing campaigns you're already doing, especially since you guys know the best way to mobilize in your country, and now we want people to start seeing the connections of everything. When we say highlight MAPA, we of course don't mean only talk about MAPA, we mean talk about your existing campaigns and what works best in your countries then connect it to MAPA and show the intersections of our struggles.
Our struggles and liberations are of course, after all, all tied together.
We'd also of course not want anyone to just accept what MAPA says if there are concerns, so this could also be a call to have an honest conversation and dialogue.
To set up calls with us message @YusufBaluch or @FarzanaJhumu or @mitziiiiiii or @adrianac_he
Other ways to get in touch with us is through the support fff mapa telegram chat (contact @EricDNjuguna to be added)

Indigenous peoples safeguard 80% of the earth's biodiversity despite being 5% of the global population, yet conservation is not helping.
I bet you thought Conservation is good for the planet right? Like the rest of us you see it as one of the ways we can start turning the environmental and ecological crisis around? Well actually you're right. Unfortunately, the majority of conservation being done - especially by the big dogs such as WWF, Wildlife Conservation Society, The Nature Conservancy - is doing much more harm than good in so many parts of the world. And the way in which this is happening is through organisations violating the human rights of Indigenous and local communities who are often the best in the world at conserving biodiversity.
Indigenous peoples safeguard a whopping 80% of the entire earth's land biodiversity, despite only being 5% of the global population.
This model of conservation, better known as Fortress Conservation, has a sinister and brutal history; a history involving white supremacist colonial settlers violently displacing and murdering countless Indigenous people in order to claim ownership of land. From there the colonisers were able to extract, exploit and export Fortress Conservation across the world. This model remains operational even today, and just as violent, extractive, and destructive.
Conservation is at the intersection between the separation of humans and nature, and of racial capitalism. This is why we must ignite resistance against the further destruction of the natural world by acknowledging the centuries of resistance of Indigenous peoples and local communities, and ensure our work is rooted in solidarity.
