hey everyone, Total replied to one of Rise Up Movement's tweets and it's greenwashing as usual. Go support rise up's original tweet and their response! don't let the polluters get away with the greenwashing!
Hey everyone!

for activists outside of India:

If you want to support and talk about the COVID situation in India, please do!
but remember:
- only use news articles from NY times and other international news agencies
- don't tag fff india or any indian activist
- IMPORTANT: don't criticize the Indian government AT ALL (it will be bad for our activists there, especially those who are already / still facing cases)
- offer support and talk about how rich countries are hoarding vaccines.

INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN CALL - FRIDAY 2 PM GMT

Helloo!

Hope you're all doing well! ❤️
As part of the #CleanUpStandardChartered campaign we're gonna have a call about the Stop EACOP campaign. The French oil company - Total - with the help of the SCB is about to start building the biggest oil pipeline that would threaten lives of countless communities in Uganda and Tanzania, harm the local biodiversity and, of course, be a climate killer (really risking our chances of fulfilling the 1.5 target). Stop EACOP campaign aims to stop this devastating investment from happening. The call will happen this Friday (30.04) at 2 pm gmt, with two special guests - Vanessa Nakate from the Rise Up Movement Uganda and Martyna Dominiak from Avaaz 👀🔥If you would like to join, please put your name in the pad below! ❤️

LINK TO THE PAD:

We will also have a spicy 🌶 and fun guessing game about our secret action (winner gets 10kg of vegan chocolate).

You can find the zoom link in this pad, please write down your name if you’re joining!

See you there! 🔜🔥
call in 30 minutes!!!

Bringing this back because it's one of my favorite reads on this topic

https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/03/the-white-savior-industrial-complex/254843/_page=true

People of color, women, and gays -- who now have greater access to the centers of influence that ever before -- are under pressure to be well-behaved when talking about their struggles. There is an expectation that we can talk about sins but no one must be identified as a sinner: newspapers love to describe words or deeds as "racially charged" even in those cases when it would be more honest to say "racist"; we agree that there is rampant misogyny, but misogynists are nowhere to be found; homophobia is a problem but no one is homophobic. One cumulative effect of this policed language is that when someone dares to point out something as obvious as white privilege, it is seen as unduly provocative.
TW: Graphic Content that talks about Murder and Rape crimes committed by shell In Nigeria

It is 25 years ago this year that the Ogoni 9 were hanged. They were nine climate activists in Ogoniland, Nigeria, who sparked a mass movement against Shell's oil production there. After being tortured in prison, an unfair process followed and they were hanged. Shell's involvement and influence that led to this is obvious, but became crystal clear in court cases that followed. To this day Nigeria is still suffering from massive pollution cause by leaking oil pipelines.

Hi folks 🥺🥺
Tonight an overpass of Mexico City's subway collapsed. The situation is horrible and there's near 20 people dead. This is a symptom more of the corruption in the country
We hope you can help us to spread the word
