Nicolás Maduro is currently expected to stand trial in the United States.

On January 3, 2026, U.S. military forces conducted a large-scale operation in Venezuela, capturing Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and transporting them to the United States.

Maduro has been under indictment in the United States since 2020 on charges of narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking, and illegal possession of weapons. Additional charges have since been added.
