I think this pretty much is conservatism at this point, regardless of the country. I don't like having to change the language of things just because the controllers hijack something, but if 95% of conservatives align with this, then at this point people should be concerned that if they say they are politically conservative that person they are talking to pictures them going to a gay pride parade.
