Nick Carter said recent Russian acts are “assertive and in some ways aggressive” – calling Russia an “acute threat” referencing cyberattacks, submarine activity in the North Atlantic, the reactivation of Arctic bases, and the build-up of forces on the border with Ukraine. Meanwhile, NATO’s Sec. Gen. Jens Stoltenberg was at pains to point out that there is not a “new Cold War” with China, stating they are not an “adversary” or “enemy” but the rise of Beijing ‘poses challenges to our security.’

NATO members however continue to conduct drills near both Russia and China.

▪️The Russian president DENIED ordering a hit on Alexei Navalny but did not guarantee his safety in prison during his NBC interview - because it is out of his power:

▪️Putin said that US allegations that Russian hackers were behind cyberattacks were “farcical” and without proof.

“We have been accused of all kinds of things, […] Election interference, cyberattacks and so on and so forth. And not once, not once, not one time, did they bother to produce any kind of evidence or proof. Just unfounded accusations.”

▪️In fact, Putin called for Russia and the US to join forces to fight cybercrime, saying: “it’s our great hope that we will be able to set up this process.”

▪️Asked about criticism from Biden that Russia added to global instability – he accused the US of doing the same in Libya, Afghanistan, and Syria: “We have a saying: Don’t be mad at the mirror if you are ugly.”

▪️Putin pointed to the arrests of hundreds of suspects in the US Capitol riot, as proof the US also targets citizens for political opinions.
