TIL a legend goes that during the Napoleonic Wars a French ship sunk off the coast of a British town named Hartlepool. The only survivor was a monkey dressed in a French uniform. Being in Northern England, no one had seen a Frenchman before, so they thought the monkey was a French spy and hanged it. https://ift.tt/2Uqu267
