What if people stopped asking "what if" questions?

I get that some people are just trolling and some don't have the cleverness to discuss the story as it was told, but geez, the silliness of the questions gets old. Update: dad watching GoT for the first time

So I posted a week ago about finally convincing my dad to watch GoT as he is off work recovering from surgery and has the time, it has been 1 week and he is now starting season 5 😅 this is my take away from revisiting GoT through the mind of someone reatching now:

1. He wasnt shocked when Ned was killed, he said how was a show 8 seasons long going to keep us on our toes about Ned when there are dragons and white walkers kicking about ha, I suppose I understand where he is coming from and when I first watched it, there wasnt 8 seasons so it was more of an impact. (I never read the books).
2. He despised Jeoffy and kept saying he couldnt wait to see how he ends, but then was bitterly dissapointed that it was by poison 🤣 I guess poison really is a woman's way of killing.
3. He keeps mentioning actors in it that I hadn't realised were in other things, which I feel are adding to his enjoyment because he is loving the cast.
4. He was SHOOK about the red wedding, as I anticipated!
5. He is dissapointed with Daenerys storyline, he said he would forward those parts if he wasnt afraid to miss any important info. And I kind of see where he is coming from, people who haven't watched GoT still know/recognise Daenerys and I guess, he expected more. He is a typical action and combat kind of man so I assured him that she's just finding her feet 😅
6. He is very strict about spoilers BUT!! today he actually asked me one thing after watching the end of season 4, he said please tell me if the hound survives. I of course didn't tell him 🤣
7. He doesnt think Jon Snow is a main character, ive told him more is to come but he can't wrap his head around how. Which makes it better!
8. His fav characters are Tyrion, Bronn and Hound.

Season 5 is my fav so Im really excited for him entering this phase and cant wait for our daily phonecalls about it!

Just finished.

So.

I thought it was a decent ending.

I have seen some very dramatic, negative takes on it.

Can anyone give their personal issues with it without generalizing or just saying badly written or "it lost all the magic of the earlier seasons."

I won't cross examine genuinely just want to know serious reasons why you disliked it.

I feel like everybody else hating it so much, and the memes prepared me to not dislike it. I already knew Bran would be king, Arya would get the kill, and that Varys and Littlefinger my two favorite characters would die. I just didn't know the how or the point A to point B.

I didn't read the books so perhaps I have some immunity to things like the changes to Stannis and Tyrion.

I'll say that the only negatives I saw were how quixkly people got around Westeros, and Jon not getting a longer confrontation with the Night King.

Also yes the Dothraki charging dicks first into a 100,000 strong enemy force was dumb.

None of these ruined the show's memory for me. I understand I am an odd one because statistically it seems it was absolutely hated. Every video of the earlier seasons I saw on Youtube had some variation of god the writing was strong then.

Just finished the show and started House of the Dragon.

The song of ice and fire... isn't that a prophecy for Jon Snow? I just started reading the books and im still in Game of thrones but the prophecy the north and south have to come together right? And technically Jon Snow is a decendent of Stark (Ice) and Targerian (technically south and fire). Am I grasping at straws here?

After the war, the Wall serves no purpose. Why still send the criminals there, as Tyrion implied? Who will oversee, and why at the Wall, when again it serves no purpose? Why not just prisons?

This does not make sense to me at all. Originally, the wall was dangerous because of wildling attacks and of course, the white walkers. So criminals were sent there to serve, pardoned of crimes but have to stay there forever. Now there is no more threat there, and sending criminals there will just increase the likelihood of them forming a huge band, which makes them the threat.
