A question about Jon’s parentage.

I wanna preface this by saying that I’ve only seen the show, and know some stuff from the books.

So, is Jon’s parentage supposed to be the same in the books as it was revealed to be in the show? To my understanding that hasn’t yet been revealed in the books. But didn’t Martin ask D&D when talking about making the show way back when, who they thought to be Jon’s mother and that they supposedly guessed it correctly. So was Rhaegar and Lyanna their guess? Or did they correctly guess Martin’s plan but decided to go with someone else (Rhaegar, Lyanna)?


If it’s not someone else, and Jon truly is biologically Ned’s son, doesn’t that change Ned’s character drastically? Then he wouldn’t have been the always-honorable Ned Stark, but just a man who cheated on his wife not even a year into their marriage. And wouldn’t that also sort of justify Catelyn’s resentment of Jon?

Daenerys’ Descent Into Madness

I’m rewatching the show right now and to all the people that thought it was too abrupt that she suddenly lost it and started attacking people in King’s Landing with Drogon—did you watch the whole series?

She had many, many lessons along the way, many dead friends. She learned to trust people less and less, and she slowly let power corrupt her. Feeling justified, mixed with a sense of ennoscriptment, mixed with fury at losing loved ones and then turning all that hatred out onto people you think are collectively bad could very easily look like burning down a city with a dragon.

I know the final season or two have bad writing, I wish GRRM finished the books so there was better material, but I truly believe her arc was taking her somewhere dark like this, and in the show it still works. The execution could be better but it’s not “out of nowhere” as some claim.
