In a show with people being beheaded, burned by dragons, having their skulls smashed open, children being murdered, brothers, sisters, nephews and aunts making love, and a 400 year old naked woman, the Arya/Gendry love scene was the most uncomfortable, by far.

Maybe it's because I binge watched the entire series over the course of a month and a half, but not even the scene where Oberyn had his skull crushed by the mountain had me more repulsed.

GRRM has been writing TWoW for 25 years

I'm fairly new to the fandom so forgive me for all the basics, that I know you already know, that Im about to lay out but I just learned something shocking.

So I just finished reading the 2nd book and went online to research the books a bit and learned that Winds of Winter was supposed to be the 4th book and come out right after The Storm of Swords.

According to Wikipedia

"In 2001, Martin was still optimistic that the fourth installment might be released in the last quarter of 2002"

Obviously he eventually realised he can't do the 5 year gap so that's why we got A Feast for Crows and A Dance of Dragons, but that means he has been trying to write The Winds of Winter for 25 god damn years. From 2000, from when Storm of Swords came out until now.... wow.

Obviously he has been doing other things in the meantime but damn... I always thought it was from 2011 until now, so 14 years of trying to write TWoW, but this has been going on for way waaay longer.

And while I was convinced that we might be getting TWoW eventually, now I think there are no chances of that.

And I know most people have been saying this for a long time, but I was never fully convinced he won't finish it.

There was always some hope. Because first it was the show that took his time, then Fire and Blood, then this, then that. There was always something. But no, it's never been about other things. He just physically/mentally cannot finish the damn book. This has been plagueing him for 25 years (!!). He must absolutely hate it by now so we are never getting it.

If Houses Tyrell and Martell had animals as their banner, what creatures do you think they’d be?

On your first watch, who did you think would end up on the Iron Throne? (assuming you avoided spoilers)

My metaphorical money was on Cersei but it was just a hunch.
