Barristan Selmy of course, but who are the other two? Gregor? Oberyn? What do you think?

Only thing Season 8 got right
I’m on my 2nd rewatch and got to Season 8. Braced for cringe. It’s so bad.
But episode 2… everyone settling in before the Long Night.
Idk. The vibe of the episode was just exactly what it should have been. The stakes felt high. The fear and anxiety was so tangible.
For as much as I dislike season 8, I really enjoyed the 2nd episode each time I watched it.

If Magaery were alive, would Daenerys be envious and jealous of her? She was much loved by the people.

Why do the books needs to have the characters be so young?
So, I’ve just started reading game of thrones and frankly, the ages of the characters really disturb me. Like, Daenerys being 13 in the first book and her first chapter being THAT denoscriptive about her body makes me really uncomfortable and disgusted. If it’s the point of the books, please tell me but I just want your thoughts because the book is making me quite uncomfortable.
Thanks

Night King/Walkers Spiral symbol?
We see it in season 1 and season 8 of the show, but it's never ever touched on. What is it? What does it mean? Is this something that we would learn from reading the books? (Currently on ASOS Part II)

Should I buy the books if I loved the show? If I should, is this edition fine?

So, I watched the show for the first and only time about a year ago, I honestly loved it besides the flaws on the last couple of seasons, and I loved the story and enjoyed it like almost no other show.
So, turns out Im getting into reading for the first time as a 17 y/o, Im currently reading IT (Stephen King) as my first "serious" book (which Im absolutely adoring, like, really absolutely loving it, currently on page 500 aprox). And I just thought about getting the Game Of Thrones books, which are around $50 dollars for the 5 book package here where I live.
So, should I get them as someone who loved the show? If so, is this artcover edition ok? Ive seen lots of people on Amazon complaining about the pages ripping of very easily on this edition, which is the only one besides the more expensive leather edition (almost double the price here where I live) so yeah, Im kind of scared on getting the $50 one with those reviews...

first time watcher: Purple Wedding
This is my first time watching game of thrones, and must I say the purple wedding was the most satisfying thing I’ve seen. From all the deaths I’ve seen, Joffrey’s death might’ve just moved this show to the greatest of all time shows. I absolutely love this show.
There’s genuinely little to no plot armor. I’m still heart broken from the end of S3, but S4 gave me peace 😂
Edit: wait WHAT? Either I haven’t been paying attention, or I’m just now finding out JOFFREY IS THE KINGSLAYER’S SON?

How come when Daenerys starts to gain power in Essos we don't see the arrival of more exiled Westerosi men to her cause?
