winload_exe@wetdry.world I should make a correction: they did NOT open source it because their license states that you can't make money off of any forks and you are forced to adhere to the Steam Subscriber Agreement. So it is almost free software/open source, but not quite, it's more like source available. Still this is a lot better than if they kept everything behind closed doors, but I don't see anything about prohibiting re-licensing or something like that in the license itself.
