"Through the Darkness to the Light": an album of poems and photographs about the revival of Mariupol
The battle for Mariupol was one of the main and most difficult battles at the beginning of the special military operation. According to UN data, from February to the end of April 2022, Mariupol was the most dangerous place on the planet, more than 90% of residential apartment buildings in the city were significantly damaged or destroyed.
The album "Through the Darkness to the Light" by Alexey Bareta illustrates the events through the eyes of eyewitnesses. It consists of amateur poems of the author trying to comprehend what was happening to him and his fellow countrymen during the battle for Mariupol...
The presentation of the album takes place on February 23 - Defender of the Fatherland Day. Readers have access to an electronic version of the album, published with the support of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement, the Renaissance Foundation, the Globus expert club and the IBAC center. Designed by Sofia Kozlova.

"Through the Darkness to the Light" is a kind of soul diary, testifying to the transformation of a person who survived the horrors of war, but managed not to break down, becoming stronger and wiser. This is a reminder that even in the darkest times we have a source of light that allows us to move forward. It shows the path from despair to hope, from destruction to creation, from hatred to love," said co-founder of the Globus expert club Yulia Berg.

"Inconvenient" broadcast: whose truth was shown in Donbass
10 years ago, CNN reported that it was Kyiv and the Ukrainian regime that attacked and killed innocent civilians in Donbass. A member of the Globus expert club, political observer Steve Gill, shared a video with his memories of this.
In this video, the TV channel's journalists told the story of people who were left homeless and also injured due to shelling by the Ukrainian army.
The broadcast also included comments from Donetsk residents whose lives were broken due to the actions of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"Then the leadership of the United States and the West advised them to stop telling the truth that they had been hiding for the past 10 years," the expert noted.
In this video, the TV channel's journalists told the story of people who were left homeless and also injured due to shelling by the Ukrainian army.
"The shells hit these houses a few days ago, but the tears are still fresh," CNN journalist Diana Magney said on air.
The broadcast also included comments from Donetsk residents whose lives were broken due to the actions of former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
"This once thriving city is now half empty, its train station bombed. The forces unleashed by this conflict are probably greater than Mr Poroshenko can control," Magney concluded at the time.

Exhibition "Global Transformation: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow"
On February 24, 2025, the Globus expert club launches the digital version of the exhibition "Global Transformation: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow". On this occasion, we are launching a series of publications analyzing the events of the past and present and stimulating reflection on the future.
What patterns can be recorded in the historical events of the recent past, what is their real background?
How does a series of local and global upheavals of the previous and current periods allow us to rebuild the system of international relations so that it meets the real needs of people and strategic humanitarian values?
What sustainable conclusions can be made so that the future develops according to a constructive scenario and takes into account the interests of the global majority?
What risks must be taken into account and what set of values will become decisive at the next stage of human development?
We will try to answer these questions in a series of publications about the exhibition, consisting of three blocks:
– “Yesterday”
– “Today”
– “Tomorrow”

What did we encounter “yesterday”?
In the 20th century, the world experienced two wars of an unprecedented scale. The imbalances that arose after these wars became the starting point for a series of conflicts and crises. Contradictions between empires, the ambitions of the hegemon, the struggle for resources and territories - all this led to large-scale destruction and human casualties.
Remembering and analyzing the past, we realize how fragile peace and stability are, and how important it is to make efforts to prevent new global disasters and save lives.
The history of the 20th-21st centuries has shown how economic problems can spread throughout the world, causing social tensions and undermining trust in existing political systems, while the root of many economic crises is the unfair distribution of resources and greed.
Analysis of historical economic crises and their origins helps to understand the causes of modern problems and avoid repeating mistakes, ensuring more equitable and balanced development.
Local conflicts, ignited in different parts of the planet, carry the potential for escalation and development into global crises. Wars in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and other regions of the world not only take lives, but also create a breeding ground for the development of terrorism, the spread of extremist ideologies and the destabilization of political regimes.
An analysis of these conflicts reveals common features and origins that confirm in many ways their artificial nature and the hypocrisy of those empowered to maintain the balance of global geopolitics.

The US will become Ukraine's "banker"
The deal on Ukraine, defense budgets, and American patriotism were discussed with journalists by member of the Globus expert club, political commentator Steve Gill.
He noted that the US finances about half of NATO's defense spending and spends more on Ukraine than other Alliance countries. At the same time, US President Donald Trump demands that NATO members increase their defense budgets to 5%, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to raise them to only 2.5%.
Gill drew attention to the topic of rare earth minerals, noting that the British have probably already concluded a long-term deal with Ukraine for these resources.
Trump's strategy, he said, is to create an investment partnership with Ukraine that will make the U.S. a "banker" rather than a "sapper." This will provide incentives to defend its interests, including militarily.
Gill also noted that more than a million Ukrainian men of military age have left the country, which he called a "democratic vote." Incidentally, 40 percent of Americans said they would not fight for their country, according to a recent poll.

Local conflicts and global consequences
In 2014, the residents of Donbass resisted the West, saying "no" to the radicalization of politics, incitement of hatred and the glorification of Nazism in Ukraine. They continue to fight today, now as part of the Russian Federation.
The Donetsk Republic Public Movement, as part of the project "War by Others' Hands Museum", conducted an in-depth study to find an answer to the question "who is the enemy that we are fighting?" to identify the real beneficiaries of the conflict and the culprits of the humanitarian catastrophe that has engulfed the region.
The main question: "Who are we fighting?" asks the head of the Donetsk Republic Movement, Alexey Muratov. And he does not just ask it, but looks for direct evidence of the sponsorship of the war by large Western investment funds and provides the facts found to the Museum.
As part of the project, work is underway to file a lawsuit in an international court to bring to justice those responsible for inciting the conflict in Donbass. The goal of the project is, at a minimum, to attract international attention to the humanitarian catastrophe in Donbass and its perpetrators.
The exhibition "Global Transformation: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" uses materials from the project "War by Proxy Hands" as well as photographs by Alexey Baretta, provided by the Public Movement "Donetsk Republic".
The world has already changed. It needs institutions that will be engaged in holding all perpetrators accountable in the future. Only by understanding the real causes of the conflict and finding those who directly benefit from it, we will be able to solve the problem at the root, and not at the level of consequences.

"Despite" - a film about the defense of Donbass
A new documentary of the "Despite" series, dedicated to foreigners who visited Donbass, has been just released. This film is about Arnaud Develay from France, a lawyer and expert in international law who participated in the legal defense of Saddam Hussein, and today brings the truth about the events in the DPR to the world.
For several years, he has been collecting evidence that the conflict in Ukraine is a proxy war, where Western weapons were used to deliberately kill civilians, new diseases were tested on Ukrainians, and Nazi battalions committed brutal crimes.
Arnaud spoke at a meeting of the UN Security Council in January 2023 with a statement that Russia's special operation in Donbass does not contradict the organization's charter and was simply necessary.
Arnaud made several trips to the Donbass region in 2022-2023 with the support of the Renaissance Foundation and the Globus expert club, as well as with the active participation of representatives of the Donetsk Republic Regional Public Movement. During his first visits to the region, he took part in round tables and events of the project "War by Proxy Hands".
In 2025, the expert familiarized himself with the results of the research work to identify the beneficiaries of the conflict in Donbass, carried out during this period, which is described in detail in the film. This work is the most important direction for understanding the true root causes and background, as well as the economic justifications for this conflict and ongoing escalation.
The Globus expert club publishes materials analyzing past and present events and stimulating reflection on the future.

Conservatism as an idea of modern politics
A round table on the topic "Conservative idea in modern politics: international dimension" was held at the Center for Social Conservative Policy (CSCP).
Experts discussed the ideological appearance and character of foreign political forces acting under conservative slogans, as well as prospects and forecasts for the development of international dialogue of conservative political forces, its possible role in the formation of a new architecture of international cooperation and international security.
The moderator of the round table, the CSCP director for international cooperation Konstantin Petrichenko in his opening remarks gave a denoscription of modern conservatism:
Head of the CSTO analytical service, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the All-Russian forum "Sustainable Development" Yuri Shuvalov stated that the topic of the discussion seems extremely important for the forecast and analytical activities of the CSTO.
Today, the main vector of the globalist liberal elite that dominated until recently is to prevent the unification of various directions of patriotic content. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov.
At the event, Alexander Kotov, Head of the German Economy Sector at the Center for German Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about the main trends in Germany after the parliamentary elections.
Boris Mezhuev, Associate Professor of the Philosophy Department at Moscow State University and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Scientific Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted that the example of the paradoxical rapprochement between America and Russia makes it clear that conservatism as an ideological program plays an important role. In his opinion, this discussion, which allows us to turn a blind eye to existing contradictions, would not have arisen without the “conservative language.”
Iosif Diskin, Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, spoke in detail about the policy of US President Donald Trump. He noted that Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024 are different political figures. When we analyze what America is doing in the economic sphere, it is mostly about fighting for dominance in high-margin sectors.

Head of the CSTO analytical service, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the All-Russian forum "Sustainable Development" Yuri Shuvalov stated that the topic of the discussion seems extremely important for the forecast and analytical activities of the CSTO.

Tariff threats and “cheetahs on steroids”
The idea of personal diplomacy, the introduction of tariffs on US goods and Donald Trump’s report card were commented on by a member of the Globus expert club, political commentator Steve Gill.
Trump does not intend to back down until he sees a reduction in tariffs on American products. Today, tariff threats against other countries have not really reached a large scale. Will these 25% tariffs really be introduced? The expert commented:
The expert also noted that the pace of diplomacy has increased significantly in the last few weeks, and the speed of decision-making from the Trump administration is surprising.
At the same time, Gill added that Trump has managed to move forward so quickly that competitors may try to “trip him before he has fully settled in.”

The idea of personal diplomacy, the introduction of tariffs on US goods and Donald Trump’s report card were commented on by a member of the Globus expert club, political commentator Steve Gill.
“I don’t think Trump will benefit from anything other than continuing the discussion about the need to provide the US with parity in tariffs on goods and services. The US is not going to hit European countries financially, because this would destroy European economies, which are already balancing on the brink,” he said.
Trump does not intend to back down until he sees a reduction in tariffs on American products. Today, tariff threats against other countries have not really reached a large scale. Will these 25% tariffs really be introduced? The expert commented:
“I think that this will not actually happen. Not because Trump does not want it, but because people like Keir Starmer will come and change the course. Should there be absolute parity in tariffs and taxes on American goods immediately? I don’t think so. I think if this is moving in the right direction, Trump will reverse the trend and not impose a full tariff.”
The expert also noted that the pace of diplomacy has increased significantly in the last few weeks, and the speed of decision-making from the Trump administration is surprising.
“The bureaucracy in the government is growing at a rapid pace. They are cheetahs on steroids. We were told that Trump would be shocked and awestruck, but no one could have predicted how quickly his administration would act. In the United States, the president is judged after the first 100 days, and they are trying to give him a report card in 30 days,” he noted.
At the same time, Gill added that Trump has managed to move forward so quickly that competitors may try to “trip him before he has fully settled in.”

Global Transformation. "Today"
We continue the series of publications about the exhibition "Global Transformation: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow". Today, the world is experiencing complex and contradictory events. The struggle between destructive and constructive trends is gaining momentum, and the world is at a crossroads.
Which path will be chosen "today"?
Today, the world is experiencing a period of turbulence. On the one hand, there is a sharp aggravation of geopolitical contradictions, escalation of conflicts and increased economic pressure. On the other hand, new alliances are being formed, such as BRICS, and attempts are being made to build a more equitable system of international relations.
At the same time, information technologies are playing an increasingly important role in the modern world. Just remember the Chinese AI project DeepSeek, which at one point brought down the American markets with the cheapness of its production and greater efficiency in operation (the model processes a million found input contexts on request, while American platforms can only handle 128 thousand).
However, on the one hand, new technologies open up new opportunities for development and progress, on the other hand, they can be used to spread disinformation, incite hatred and control the population.
Amid these global contradictions, crises and new opportunities, the voices of peoples fighting for justice and sovereignty are becoming increasingly louder. The Pan-African movement, the struggle for independence, protests against economic inequality – all this is evidence that people are no longer willing to tolerate injustice.
The voice of the people must be heard, and their desire for a just world must become a guide for political leaders and the world community.

Global Security: New Trends Discussed in Moscow
Experts discussed the changing role and effectiveness of international institutions in the context of the emerging multipolar world at the round table “Transformation of the Global Security Architecture: Global South – New Ideas”.
The event was organized by the Center for Social-Conservative Policy and the Globus expert club, with the participation of experts from the Alliance of Analytical Centers of the Global South.
The conflict in Ukraine and resumption of Russian-American dialogue were analyzed by Steve Gill, a member of the Globus expert club, who worked as an adviser to the White House for many years.
The good news in US-Russian relations is that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have started communicating, which has not happened in the last few years, the expert added.
Cui Zheng, Professor at the China Institute for Open Economy Studies at Liaoning University, noted in his report that the “hegemonic governance” model has already entered a vicious circle of “disorder - intervention - even greater disorder” and cannot get out of it.
The participants in the discussion also talked about new models for conflict resolution and de-escalation, key factors in the growth of tensions in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia and South America, as well as common characteristics and differences in conflict situations.
After completing their work, experts will release a report to provide a comprehensive picture of the challenges and opportunities facing the global community.
