The Pixel 8 Pro has finally gotten Zoom Enhance feature.

The tool to improve the zooming of photos in the Google Photos gallery, which was first announced in October 2023, has finally made its way to users, although many thought Google had forgotten about it. The feature will be found in the Google Photos editor under the Tools tab called “Zoom Enhance”.

Google's denoscription of the feature:

Zoom Enhance intelligently fills in the gaps between pixels and predicts fine details for high-quality, post-capture zoom results. It will be available on Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and is rolling out to Pixel 8 Pro starting today.

How it works: You select the enlarged part of the photo you want to enhance, start the enhancement process, then you can visually compare the result of enhancement with original and save the processed *enhanced* part of the image.

Google has introduced a native Pixel Weather app.

For a long time, Pixel devices offered a page belonging to the Google Search app as the center of weather information. Along with the presentation of Pixel 9, Google introduced a new native weather app that also offers new functionality.

The home page is a list of the cities you have added. Famous cities have their landmarks in the background, the rest will just have a cloudy background with outlines of skyscrapers or without them.

The 10-day weather forecast block and the lower info-tiles (wind, humidity, etc.) can be moved between each other. If you click on one of the tiles, you will see a detailed denoscription of the info they provide.

[Not enabled yet] The app will also offer a Weather map with precipitation forecast, which currently only works in the US, UK and most EU countries excluding Italy, Luxembourg, and Lichtenstein.

In addition to a different design, the app will soon show custom AI weather reports made with Gemini Nano.

The new update to Pixel Thermometer makes it easier to measure the temperature of objects.

Now when you tap on the “Object Temperature” section, you will be presented with a menu 'Routine measurements' (food, liquid, cooking surfaces), for quick access to the most frequently measured objects. To measure an object without a category, simply press '+'. Pixel 9's “Add me” feature can technically work on the Pixel 8 Pro.

Along with the Pixel 9 series, Google introduced a new 'Add me' feature exclusive to this series. It allows you to take a multi-person company photo if you don't have a tripod with you or don't have anyone to ask to take the shot. To do this, Add Me combines 2 photos so that everyone is in the frame.

However, I was able to run Add Me on my Pixel 8 Pro. To do this, I installed the Pixel Camera APK version 9.5.118 and used root to activate the Cottage__cottage_enabled flag. And as it turns out, this feature works on the Pixel 8 Pro without any problems. It also uses Google AR Core Services for its functionality.

We did the same on the Pixel 6, but the 'Add me' libraries from the Pixel 9 turned out to be incompatible with this device.

Who knows, maybe in the future Google will roll out 'Add me' to some older Pixel models with one of the next Pixel Feature Drops ?

Here's what the Pixel Studio app looks like.

Specially for the Pixel 9 series, Google has made a new Pixel Studio app. which is an image generator based on the diffusion model running on the device and Google's cloud-based text-to-image model Imagen 3.

When first launched, the app requires a ~1.2GB download of the Pixel AI model. The home page presents a series of pre-prepared queries divided by subject ( Posters, Magic Castles, etc.) each of which can be opened and rewritten to your liking.

At the very bottom of the page there is a create button which will open a page with an empty field for entering a query. Once you have a generated image, you can optionally overlay text and stickers (only one set for now). At the end, you can save the image to your clipboard or device, or share it directly in another app

Our follower @ralph950412 was able to upload the APK from Google Play, thanks to which, it can be installed by anyone with Android 13+, but it looks like Google is server-side restricting it, so the app won't work for everyone.

The “At a glance” and “Weather” widgets will be directing to the new Pixel Weather app.

Earlier, an APK of the new Pixel Weather app appeared online, but many were left wondering if it would open from the At a glance widget and Weather widget on Pixel devices. The answer is that it will.

For those who have installed the new app, Google is server-side rolling out a new change that, when tapped on one of these widgets, redirects users to the Pixel Weather app instead of the weather page (with the frog) built into the Google Search app.

And for fans of the frog, Google has prepared separate weather widgets (part of the Google Search app) that are not available to users yet.
