• Ability to select a media output device directly from the watch.
• Apps will be able to detect when a user takes a screenshot (part of Android 14).

You also get more detailed running metrics with the Health Services update:

• Ground contact time: The amount of time, during a single step, that a runner's foot is in contact with the ground.

To speed up getting the update, put the watch on charge, open the Settings/System/System Update page, and tap the watch icon at the top several times in a row.

Pixel 7 and newer has now got a new “Adaptive Vibration” feature.

This feature adaptively changes the vibration intensity of ringtones, notifications, and alerts according to the noise level around you. It does this by using the phone's microphone and other sensors. For example, if you're in a quiet place, such as a library, your phone's vibration intensity is automatically reduced.

You can enable this feature by going to Settings > Sound & Vibration > Vibration & haptics > Adaptive Vibration.

The update is part of the October Pixel Feature Drop.

Now you'll be able to stream content to your Pixel Tablet simply by holding your Pixel Pro series close to it.

Soon you'll have a new way to stream media from your Pixel Phone to your Pixel Tablet and vice versa. With the new feature, all you have to do is hold your phone close to the tablet and the music playing on Spotify or YouTube will seamlessly transfer to it without any extra action like pressing the cast button.

This feature uses your device's ultra-wideband (UWB) module, so it's only compatible with Pixel Pro series phones: 6 Pro, 7 Pro, 8 Pro, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, and 9 Pro Fold.

The settings for the feature will be found under Settings / Google / Cast Options / Hold close to cast. It's reportedly coming in the next few weeks.

The feature was first announced back at CES 2024 (video demo from Mishaal Rahman).
