First real look at Android 12’s new Conversation widget in DP1.
Quinny899 was able to add a Conversation widget (currently called “People Space” while it’s in development) that shows some information about the last message from the Google Messages app. The widget does not currently show the actual content of the message, and it also does not work with other apps he tried, including Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

How to make App Pairs in Android 12 Developer Preview 1

If you want to try creating an app pair yourself, you’ll need to enter ADB shell in a terminal or command prompt on your PC and run the following shell command:

dumpsys activity service SystemUIService WMShell pair {taskId1} {taskId2}

where {taskId1} and {taskId2} are the task IDs of the two apps you want to group. You can find taskIds from the output of “dumpsys activity”. After running this command, it’ll create a new task for the app pair. If you want to unpair these apps, you can run this command:

dumpsys activity service SystemUIService WMShell unpair {taskId}

How to root and install magisk on your phone with Android 12 DP1.

1. Unlock the bootloader. (I hope you know how to do this)
2. Download Android platform-tools (adb & fastboot) from the official website.
3. Pull out the Boot.img from there and drop it onto your phone.
4. Install the latest Magisk Canary APK.
5. Open Magisk Manager, click Advanced >> Recovery Mode. Press the top "Install" button. When prompted, click "Install" again, then "Select and fix file" >> Select the boot.img file you copied to your phone earlier. It will create a new file "/storage/emulated/0/Download/magisk_patched.img".
6. Drop this file back onto the PC in the adb sdk folder.
7. Run cmd.exe and in it specify the path to the adb sdk with the kernel file.
8.

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img

9. If everything is correct, you will get something like this:

fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
target reported max download size of 268435456 bytes
sending 'boot_a' (32092 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.167s]
writing 'boot_a'...
OKAY [ 0.325s]
finished. total time: 1.494s

10. Reboot the phone, open the Magisk Manager again and make sure you have root!
