Maybe you didn't know, but in Google Messages you can now pinch to zoom inside of a message thread and it will automatically increase the font and text reflow.

To activate it, you must enable the Quick Action Search Widget in chrome://flags. But there is no 100% chance that once you turn it on you will have it.
