Hey :) Apparently, bots are telling some people to start them, but have already been started.

An issue has been identified with group names that contain HTML characters (&, <, >, "). If your group contains these characters, no one will be able to join a game. The issue has already been found and patched, but will not be pushed out until this afternoon (about 8 hours from now).

Also with the patching today, we will be bringing werewolf down for a few minutes to upgrade the server hosting the database.

Minor notice:

If your game has crashed with the error "The wait operation timed out", I promise I am working very hard to track down the cause. It's not the bot, it's the website that is causing this issue. For now I have disabled some of the advanced pieces of the website (admin panels) while I work on it, so you shouldn't have any more crashes due to that.

We are currently testing balanced games, which will replace "normal" game mode (possibly? or should we make a new game mode?). These will be random chosen roles, but with a strength balancing system to make sure teams are properly balanced out.

We are getting closer to a public release of the new role assignment system, which will create balanced games using random roles. It is currently in beta testing. This new role assignment system will replace normal game mode. There is also a chance that we will remove some of the restrictions on chaos, creating more unbalanced games.... we will see ;P

In the meantime, work is being started on the next major update! Stay tuned for more things to come :)

Do not invest money in shady Ponzi Schemes!

A ponzi scheme called "Lara with me" which uses a Telegram Bot to communicate with its users/victims has gained quite a lot of attention lately (you might have seen spam by its users/victims in public groups in the desperate attempt to gain more victims, which are needed to keep the scheme running).
"Lara" promises a daily return of 3% on an investment. That this is beyond impossible should be clear to everybody!
Just think about it! It would mean for each $1 invested, you'd get $48,482 after one year (1,03^365).
If the owners of Lara With Me actually had such a thing, they wouldn’t be operating a shady investment scheme, they'd be the richest people in history.

Once the owners realize that the newly invested funds aren't big enough to meet the 3% a day ROI obligations, they'll do a runner with the money left - possibly millions - and because the victims paid using bitcoin there will be no way to get "investments" back.

Werewolf has been updated!

Version 3.0.6123.*

We've completely reworked normal game mode. It is now "balanced" game mode, and will no longer choose specific roles based on game size. Instead, it will choose random roles, but balance the game. Essentially, it's chaos with balance.

This is still fairly new, and over time we may need to adjust the values of various roles. Feedback is always appreciated.

Other changes:
Tons of small bugfixes, refactored the way the night cycle works, etc etc.


As for the other big update, I promise we are working on it. We hope to be beta testing it fairly soon, then public release within a couple weeks.

Side note:
If you are watching the GitHub repo for werewolf, you will not see any commits / merged PRs for awhile, until we get the update done. We are currently working in a private repo. Once we are ready to release, we will switch back to the public repo and update it.
