The ATF seems to have just been handed a big fat steaming L in the Kansas district court, with the court ruling that since there was no relevant historical tradition presented to justify the ban on machine guns, that it can't stand.

This will take a while to work its way through the courts, and while I don't see this accomplishing much on its own what I see is this possibly opening up a way to attack the NFA in court.
