My mother’s ancestry came to this country with the Puritans in the 1640s, when it was a harsh wildness full of danger. Her ancestors founded at least one town in New England, fought the Indians and then the British.
My immigrant side came here in the 1940s, fleeing from communist China. That side of my family doesn’t appreciate being in this country: they don’t respect nor fully understand how important it is to have rights.

American sympathies for Israel and Jews is reaching an all-time low.
Even among Republicans support for the Jewish state is reaching a 13 year low.
The percentage of White Americans who support Israel is at an all-time low, roughly 36% of non-Evangelical Whites take an unfavourable view of Israel.
Among Americans aged 18-29 nearly 30% have an unfavourable view of Jews, with 26% saying Jews have too much power in the business world.
A further 26% of Americans aged 18-29 said that Jewish people 'think they are better' than others.
These latter numbers represent nearly 15 million Americans.
