This narrative is very strong here in Canada, where the “First Nations” are a monolith of oppressed people who had their land stolen by the evil white man (especially the British, the French may get a bit softer treatment). You’d think the land was completely encompassed by these tribes who all lived in blissful harmony with each other before whitey came along and ruined paradise.

It’s highly simplistic and stridently pejorative towards whites considering how much better the place became after they built things and created a place with regular supply of food, better medical options, and technology these tribes hadn’t even dreamt of before the Europeans settled here (including the steel tools they provided that resulted in the totem poles so many adore; seemingly especially modern Europeans who likely don’t realize the totem poles wouldn’t exist without the white mans’ tools).
