The First and the Second Amendments are basically the same thing, except one applies to speech and the other applies to the right to keep and bear arms.

The Second Amendment doesn’t always prevent tyranny, just as the First Amendment doesn’t guarantee that the truth always prevails over lies and dogma — our objectively better arguments certainly haven’t captivated the masses over the establishment’s brainwashing.

But the important point of these Amendments is that the US government is legally restrained from throwing us in prison for exercising these natural rights.

Sure, you could argue some edge cases, some exceptions here and there, but for the most part these Amendments have done their job restraining a government that would otherwise take away and curtail much more of our rights.

Another way of looking at this: to claim that the Second Amendment was designed to prevent tyranny is like saying that the First Amendment was designed to prevent lies.

People often equate liberals with larger welfare states and more social programs. Helping the people with a taxes being collected is not the problem. The problem is that to liberals this is their worldview. Degrade every institution to a point where it holds no value and give it away to anti-social people and foreigners.

So what’s the Australian government’s response to this going to be? Even more gun control? Like that’s even possible. Gun control clearly doesn’t prevent mass shootings.

A smarter move would be Australians having permitlees conceal carry for defense against shit like this. The only real way to stop a mass shooting is to shoot back. Only you can defend yourself.
