Cicero hostilely condemned Jewry, saying that their mentality of hustling & cowardice is incompatible with the altruistic mentality of the best of Rome.
Horace in Book I of his "Satires" mocks the Jewish Sabbath.
Petronius in his "Satyricon" ridicules jewish Circumcision.
Pliny the Elder in his "Natural History" talks about “Jewish impiety" and says "the Jews are well known for their hatred of the Gods.”
Seneca referred to Jewry as “the most evil nation, whose squandering of a seventh of life [referring to the Sabbath] goes against all usefulness...These most wicked people have come to spread their customs in the whole world; the vanquished have given laws to the victors.”
Quintilian says in "Institutio Oratoria" that the Jews are a mockery to the rest of men, and that their religion is the embodiment of superstition.
Martial in his "Epigrams" says the Jews are followers of a cult whose true nature is kept secret in order to hide it from the eyes of the rest of the world, attacks circumcision & Sabbath (doing nothing on the seventh day of the week).
Tacitus the famous historian who praised the Pagan Germans for their morality, also spoke about the Jews, but in very different terms. He says that they are descended from lepers expelled from Egypt and that under the Assyrians, Medes & Persians they were the most despised & hated people. Among the terms with which he describes Jewry are "perverse, abominable, cruel, superstitious, alien to all laws of religion, wicked and criminal" among many others.
