Кража кубка чемпионата мира была на самом деле, в 1966 году трофей был похищен из музея в Англии и позднее был найден, не поверите, псом по кличке Пиклз

Кубок 24/7 был под пристальной охраной со всех сторон.
В воскресенье, 20 марта, стража начала дневной обход, в 12:10 заметили, что кубок исчез.
За пропажу взялся Скотленд-Ярд, которые передали дело Летучему отряду(полиция или другая организация, способная быстро решить дело)

В понедельник, 21 марта, председатель футбольной ассоциации получил анонимный звонок, в котором ему сказали, что завтра он получит посылку с верхней подкладкой кубка и записку с требованием 15000£ за кубок. В письме говорилось, что если об этом будет рассказано полиции или СМИ, то кубок будет расплавлен. Позднее поступил второй звонок, человек представился как «Джексон», приказал сумму отдать купюрами 5 и 10 фунтов.

Несмотря на предупреждения, об этом было сообщено Чарльзу Багги, Детективному Инспектору Летучего отряда. Полиция приказала председателю разместить объявление 24 марта и связалась с банком, который создал фальшивый платеж выкупа из пачек обычной бумаги, с настоящими деньгами только сверху и снизу, которые были помещены в чемодан.

Председатель и Багги, который представился его ассистентом, пришли в назначенное время и встретились с «Джексоном». Полиция объявила о находке кубка, но сохранила его как улику до 18 апреля. Позднее они вернули его футбольной ассоциации перед началом турнира.
Пиклз на короткое время стал местной знаменитостью. 🌟

В 2018 году журналист-криминалист Том Петтифор идентифицировал, что вором, организовавшим это всё, оказался знаменитый лондонский гангстер Сидни Кугульере.

Theft of the Rimet Cup - in-game event based on real life events

The theft of the Rimet Cup actually happened, in 1966 the trophy was stolen from a museum in England and was later found, believe it or not, by a dog named Pickles

The cup was under close guard 24/7 from all sides.
On Sunday, March 20, the guards began a noon circuit, at 12:10 it was noticed that the cup was missing.
Scotland Yard took up the case, and they handed the case over to the Flying Squad (the police or another organization capable of quickly solving the case)

On Monday, March 21, the chairman of the Football Association received an anonymous call in which he was told that tomorrow he would receive a parcel with the top lining of the cup and a note demanding £15,000 for the cup. The letter said that if the police or the media were told about this, the cup would be melted down. A second call was later received from a man introducing himself as "Jackson" and ordering the amount to be paid in £5 and £10 notes.

Despite warnings, the call was reported to Charles Buggy, Detective Inspector of the Flying Squad. The police ordered the chairman to place an ad on 24 March and contacted the bank, which created a fake ransom payment from bundles of plain paper, with real money only on the top and bottom, which were placed in a suitcase.

The chairman and Buggy, who introduced himself as his assistant, arrived at the appointed time and met "Jackson". Buggy showed "Jackson" the money, but "Jackson" refused to show him the trophy, saying that it might be stolen. "Jackson" got into Buggy's car and agreed to take him to the trophy. On the way, "Jackson" noticed a Flying Squad van following them and became nervous. At a traffic light, he told Buggy to stop and said he was going to get the trophy. As he left, the van stopped "Jackson" and he disappeared around the corner. As Buggy was about to follow him, he reappeared and Buggy told him to get back in the car. Shortly after, "Jackson" jumped from the moving vehicle and ran away. "Jackson" was caught in the garden of a house.
At the police station, "Jackson" was identified as the thief, Edward Betchley, who denied stealing the trophy, but had acted as a middleman in the deal. Betchley also said that someone he knew as "the Pole" had promised him £500 for it.

On March 27, David Corbett was walking his dog Pickles. Pickles began sniffing at a parcel, all wrapped in old newspaper. When David opened the parcel, it contained the Rimet Cup.
The police announced the discovery of the trophy, but kept it as evidence until April 18. They later returned it to the FA before the tournament.
Pickles briefly became a local celebrity. 🌟

In 2018, criminal investigative journalist Tom Pettifor identified the thief who orchestrated the whole thing as notorious London gangster Sidney Cugullere.
