In an effort to honour my body this fourth trimester I have been working really hard to remind myself of it’s strength and beauty.
Instead of prodding and poking in the mirror I look down, smile, and say thank you.
I love to squish my belly, so does Arlo. When he does I say “wow Arlo, can you believe my tummy grew two humans isn’t that incredible. I was your first home” to which he always responds with a smile followed by kisses on my tummy.
It was easier this time around though I must admit. Knowing what was to come, seeing myself for the first time after birth wasn’t as big of a shock as the first.
I’m allowing myself all the time it takes to feel like me again. I know all the changes are temporary and I definitely don’t expect to look the same as I did before.
I accept the woman I see in the mirror, she’s so strong and resilient and fucking beautiful.
I’m completely obsessed with the people this body has grown, every mark maps there journey into this world and I couldn’t be more proud of the person they have helped me become.
Being their home has made me feel at home in me, probably for the first time ever.”
