Biweekly update on @Humanode vol.20
TL;DR
Hello, crypto fans and tech enthusiasts! The last two weeks have been extremely intense and exciting for the Humanode teams, and we can’t wait to share some of the most significant news with you!
It is always a pleasure to see growing numbers in testnet stats. Humanode testnet V2 ‘Shamshel’, the 1st major upgrade that greatly improves the UI/UX, has just hit 2740+ validators (2,741 at the time of writing).
In a recent development update, Humanode teams have shared what they’ve been working on over the past two weeks.
As for the network development, the team enabled building of binaries at CI, defined BioauthID type alias at runtime level, added bioauthentication key insertion subcommand, improved RPC error handling, and moved wasmtime to the default crate, added support for using custom proper cache key, and fixed cargo sort.
As for the Web App, the team extracted the Humanode API type guards into a dedicated file, captured the whole call instead of just the promise to prevent the possibility of races, adjusted jest config, rethrowed error if parsing context fails, added context-based retry logic to RPC calls, and dropped the old styling logic in favor of the new MUI-suggested one.
Considering crypto-biometric search and matching and liveness algorithms, the team made landing page in demo website for facial recognition and liveness detection, configured MySQL server in the Azure server and exposed the REST APIs for user sign up/sign in, connected camera.js into the demo website and combined the API for passive liveness detection in dashboard.
The Humanode media team continues a series of interviews with Humanode core team members. These weeks, they interviewed Fiona, a Community Manager at Humanode. Fiona discusses her background story, dreams and aspirations, and what gets her excited about community building and growth. Read the interviews in the Humanode blog!
Other than that, the Humanode Fireside talk took place in their Telegram voice chat. The team discussed first-generation apps for human nodes. Listen to the recording on the Humanode Podcast, and join the team on Wednesday for the next conversation on biometrics and privacy!
Moreover, Humanode Meme Contest is live. 5 winners will earn rewards from a USDT prize pool. Participants with great entries will get a special role in Humanode’s Discord. Hurry up! Submissions are open until 7th April 2022.
That’s all for today! Have a great week!

Shamshel Web and Desktop App Updates
Dear friends and human nodes,
Today, we are glad to announce the release of the Humanode testnet V2 ‘Shamshel’ major Web and Desktop App updates.
🔺First of all, greet a new UI in the Mobile application! After scanning the QR code you can now choose directly from the application what you want to do, enroll or authenticate.
🔺There are also comments on the buttons that describe what enrollment and authentication means.
🔺Now the checkbox in the Desktop application does not need to be switched.
🔺Additionally, the team fixed authentication issues on Intel Macs.
In order for the new UI to appear, you need to update the version of your node. To do this, you need to click the ‘Check for updates’ button in the workspace settings and download the latest version.

🔺Vote for Humanode’s talks at Polkadot Decoded🔺
The largest Polkadot conference Polkadot Decoded is coming! In 2022, it will be divided into 4 sub-events, which will be held in Shanghai, Berlin, New York, and Mexico offline.
The Polkadot team has announced the candidate talks, and about 60+ Polkadot ecosystem projects signed up on topics such as Polkadot vision, slot auction, workshop, and lightning & technology talks. According to the voting mechanism, the top 15 talks with the most votes in each category will enter the final talk list.
At this conference, Humanode has submitted two talks:
🎤 Re-imagining blockchain governance and validation with private biometrics by Dato Kavazi, a co-founder at Humanode
Starting with an overview of centralization issues in Proof-of-Stake protocols we'll delve into Humanode solution to decentralization of infrastructure and governance which combines one of the most accurate biometric neural networks and Substrate stack. We'll cover how blockchain innovators can combine biometric verification and Nominated Proof-of-Stake to increase their network decentralization.
🎤 Biometric-authorization based consensus layer by Dmitry Lavrenov, a consensus protocol and DLT engineer at Humanode
Biometric-authorization or Bioauth based consensus layer is an addition to deterministic consensus protocols (i.e. BABE & Grandpa) that is responsible for validating whether block authors of proposed blocks have successfully passed biometric authentication or not. As a result, we have an extra consensus layer that allows only bio-authenticated validators to take part in blocks production and validation.
Human nodes, take a moment to support our team's participation in the most important Dotsama event this year!

Humanode Hackathon Announcement
Hey Hackers and Builders,
We are excited to host the first Humanode Hackathon, and invite all hackers and builders to participate!
The prizes will be awarded to the individuals/teams that come up with and demo the most interesting application and tools for human nodes or develop a sybil-resistant app using Humanode API while respecting the challenge denoscription, goals, and criteria.
Date: 16-29 of May, 2022
Venue: Devpost (more details to follow)
Each week of the hackathon will be filled with panels, workshops, demos and talks. The program introduces speakers with different perspectives, promotes educational and awareness-raising activities, and that deepens the understanding of the Sybil resistance. Our awesome mentors will help you deep-dive into development on EVM-compatible Humanode chain, use of biometric API as well as working with the nodes. More details concerning the events and scheduling will follow shortly.
Please register below in order to be eligible for the submissions, bounties and prizes that will be announced shortly!
👉🏻 Early pre-registration form
Don’t forget to join our Discord to team up with other participants and keep up to date with events during this hackathon.Let's get inspired, share ideas, and celebrate the “1 human = 1 node” ethos together!

Hello world!
The Humanode team would like to invite all human nodes, and human nodes to be, to our first-ever Humanode Conference!
Our original goal was to have everyone attend an offline, face to face conference, however due to the geopolitical crisis in the world along with the relentless COVID pandemic, we will be holding the conference online, on Gather.
We would like to invite everyone to join us for a few days of keynotes, lectures, seminars, games, conversations, and a whole lot of fun, focusing on the upcoming launch of Humanode mainnet, our vision, partnerships, technology and growing as a community!
The conference will be held on Gather (link to be shared at a later date) from May 30th to June 1st 2022, and we will be sharing details as they become available.
We are looking forward to your participation!
