Biweekly update on @humanode vol. 2
Welcome, all crypto fans and tech enthusiasts, to our second biweekly report on Humanode, decentralized private biometrically encrypted consensus mechanism, and monetary system!
Currently, the Humanode teams are operating extremely hard on the major tasks. As part of the development update, they’ve shared what they’ve been working on over the past two weeks. As for the network development, the team enabled logging at biometric processing server, added TLS certificates to docker image to solve the biometric processing node deployment, ran bio-authentication flow at the node, reused the runtime at bioauth RPC instead of creating a new one, made StoredAuthTickets non-optional and default-initialized, and continued implementing test environment. Considering crypto-biometric search and matching and liveness algorithms, the dev team added the SGDT model for single frame FAS, replaced ReLU by ReLUApprox in Resnet.py, modified the template for relu approximation and the pose estimation part, as well as updated the facial expression module. The work on consensus continues. Over this time, the team added labels to nodes and no-answering attack mitigation, fixed bugs in Slowflake, experimented with graphics and widgets, and added fancy circular visualization (check it out in our report).
Last week, the seventh ‘Humanode Fireside’ took place. The team was talking about biometric ownership and everything related to it. Listen to this and all previous episodes on the Humanode Podcast. Next Wednesday the team is going to discuss the use of biometrics for DeFi. Join them in the Telegram voice chat!
On top of that, Humanode's latest blog post discusses Fath. Humanode's vision is to create a stable and just financial system that relies on the existence of human life itself, and Fath will work as the monetary algorithm for it to happen. Fath takes its name from the term Fathom, which means a deep understanding of why something is happening after much thought and summarizes properly how the process was to get here. It establishes two principles - proportional distribution and rebalancing. To better understand these principles, take a deeper look at each of them and why they exist in the blog.
As many of you know, the Humanode team is using biometrics to enable Sybil resistance. This technology ensures fair distribution of power and governance in distributed systems like blockchains. Read more about biometric types, modalities, pros & cons, examples in use, and privacy considerations in the freshly-published article in the Humanode blog. Furthermore, the team recently overviewed Humanode DAO named Vortex, and how Humanode governance will be decentralized from the start. Vortex is based on 1 human = 1 node = 1 vote, no matter how much money or power a person has, his vote only has equal power to his peers. Check out the publication for more details.
Moreover, Shannon Higgins, Humanode Core member, has just recorded a new episode of ‘Humanode in Simple Terms’ video series. In this episode, he goes over the basic concept of crypto-biometrics, and what it means to privacy and security of bio-authentication. A must-watch!
That’s all for today! Have a great weekend!

Biweekly update on @humanode vol. 3
Hello, crypto fans and tech enthusiasts! The last two weeks have been extremely intense and exciting for the Humanode teams, and we can’t wait to share some of the most significant news with you!
First and foremost, Humanode has announced a strategic partnership with Republic. Republic Crypto will act as a strategic and technical advisor for Humanode in several fields ranging from technology, use cases, partnerships, to marketing and fundraising. Through rigorous technical advisory, ecosystem business development, and cross-promotional marketing, the Republic Crypto team carries a full arsenal of expertise that Humanode is thrilled to engage in preparation for the milestones ahead.
Currently, the Humanode teams are operating extremely hard on the major tasks. As part of the development update, they’ve shared what they’ve been working on over the past two weeks. As for the network development, they’ve added simple cli to run and test local testnet, switched to a different URL scheme for the web app, made FaceTec integration corrections, and used aura keys in bioauth flow. As for the Humanode consensus protocol, they’ve fixed messages in circular visualization and refactored circular visualization. Considering crypto-biometric search and matching and liveness algorithms, the bio-auth team has fixed bugs and integrated face align module for liveness detection, and added the data generation noscript for it, as well as added the dataloader and training code for single frame FAS.
The eighth Fireside talk took place in Humanode telegram voice chat on July 28th, 2021. The discussion was fully devoted to biometrics for DeFi. Listen to the recording on the Humanode Podcast, and join the team on Wednesday for the next conversation!
Humanode's latest blog post discusses crypto biometrics. In a nutshell, crypto-biometrics is based on a combination of various technologies and exists at the intersection of the disciplines of mathematics, information security, cybersecurity, Sybil resistance, biometrics, liveness detection, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP), homomorphic encryption, and blockchain. Humanode is developing the world's first decentralized biometric identification layer that will not only be used on the Humanode platform but which can be utilized in a variety of services, platforms, and applications. Read more about Humanode’s approach in their blog.
Furthermore, the team published an overview of liveness detection providers. For those who aren’t familiar, biometric liveness refers to the use of computer vision technology to detect the actual presence of a living user, rather than a representation such as a photograph or a mask, video or screen, a fake silicon fingerprint, or other spoof artifacts. Check out a detailed list of liveness detection providers and a quick overview of their technologies to learn more.
That’s a wrap! See you in two weeks with new impressive milestones reached!
